Last year, notebook becomes a new wave with its high mobility but powerful performance. It helps boost the computing manufacturer's revenue several times. Asus becomes one of the top netbook producers by releasing many new versions in the eee PC group.

But nowadays, when you go around the gadget world, you see everyone is talking about iPad, Dell Streak, Archors internet tablet. What are they? And why are they so hot?

Internet Tablet is the name of a range of mobile internet appliances that focus on internet and media features. Internet Tablets fall in the range between a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) and an Ultra-Mobile PC (UMPC), and slightly below Intel's Mobile Internet Device (MID) (Source from wikipedia). With this definition, we can easily find out its size which can fit your palm (Internet tablet N900), or can be a little bigger (Dell Streak), or like a children’s board (iPad).

Before, there were only Nokia and Archos that produced media internet tablet. Nokia is famous for its Nokia N770, N800 and N900. Archos has Archos 5, Archos 7 and Archos 9. But the hottest media internet tablet right now is iPad. Over 3 millions of iPad were sold till now and this number is increasing.

There will be many internet tablets get released at the last quarter of this year. This year we are expecting Meego internet tablet and android internet tablet, both of them will be good competitors to Apple's iPad.

Media internet tablet will take over computing field’s revenue this year because of these reasons:

  • Mobility: people want to carry the internet and media’s benefit everywhere and old laptops can’t fulfill this desire.
  • Allows, with the proper software, universal input, independent from different keyboard localizations.
  • Touch-screen: a new way of enjoy the advances of technology. Navigation can be made easily.
  • Usage on an environment that doesn’t need keyboard and mouse.
  • Light weight, lower power model
  • Some users find it more natural and fun to use a stylus to click on objects rather than a mouse or touchpad, which are not directly connected to the pointer on screen.
  • Digital painting and image editing is enhanced and more realistic than painting or sketching with a mouse.
  • The ability for easier or faster entering of diagrams, mathematical notations, and symbols.
